Early wake - routine out the window!

We have finally settled into a really good 7.30am-8pm routine with a mid morning and mid afternoon nap. So what happens when baby wakes at 6am!? I don’t want to bring the whole day forward as I still want her to go to bed at the same time so as not to reinforce the early wakes. But it’s going to be a painful day of stretching wake windows to 4+ hours to get to our usual nap times 🫠

Our baby wakes at 5 no matter what we do and will not go back to sleep, we regularly have to stretch wake windows to 3.5/4, it might only be our girl but they’re more resilient than we thought and she gets through the day x

I personally would try and stretch each wake window by 30 mins x

Maybe have a 3 nap day? X

Sometimes mine wakes at 6 sometimes at 7, doesn’t seem to be any pattern or reason for it, I just nap him by his wake window and tbh he normally naps longer in the morning on an early day and so the 2nd nap and bed time don’t really change. Like Lauren I’d stretch the wake window a bit each time to help get back in the routine x

I find on days like this my little girl normally figures it out herself to somehow end up having either 2 or 3 naps and making it to the same bedtime, I just try and keep an eye on wake windows and stretch if need be. Also just worth baring in mind the clocks go forward on Sunday so actually starting bringing things forward won’t actually be a bad thing as the clocks change then anyway! Xx

I think it’s a phase atm all babies seem to be doing it ?? The mum &bsby group I go to all the mums said baby is waking up early ?? My daughter keeps waking at 5:30 , no idea why she always used to wake around 6:30/7am . Routine is the same and naps , room dark ect x

We have the same routine 7:30am - 8pm with two naps. 10:30-12:30 then 3:30-4:30pm or 4-5pm. Our LO always wakes at midnight and 6am. I just feed him BM check nappy and put back to bed. If he’s still asleep at 7:30 I wake him, sometimes I let him sleep on till 8am depends what I have planned for the day. When he does wake in the night getting him back to sleep is quickly done so we’re not overthinking it. X

@Georgie I didn’t realise the clocks change! I don’t even know what day it is most of the time haha. Thanks

As it happens we’ve kept busy and she’s made it til 10am before she’s had her morning nap so I was just massively overthinking it 😅

It’s a nightmare isn’t it! Mines been waking early for the past 2 weeks even though his room is pitch black so it’s not like there’s any light coming in to wake him? I follow respectful sleep training/ learning on fb and they say to base their first nap off your desired wake time and leave them in the cot. Just do this then might go back to sleep 🤞🏻 or be rested to do a longer window as they’ve been in their cot x

I would possibly move it forward 30 mins tonight and tomorrow night in preparation for the clocks changing? Or stretch each wake window a little x

If my baby wakes up earlier I give him a bridge nap of 10-15 mins half way between the wake up and ideal nap time and that’s helped massively!! X
