Cradle cap?

So I’ve oiled my daughters hair to loosen what I think is cradle cap, and her hair is coming out in clumps. Does anyone have any ideas on methods to help with cradle cap at all? They say that loosing hair is normal but this looks quite scary!

It is completely normal to keep her cradle cap from getting worse brush her hair like 4 times a day.

I use a tiny bit of head & shoulders shampoo & conditioner. Just a tiny tiny amount & it’s been clearing up my son’s cradle cap! My sister recommended it to me because that’s what her pediatrician said to use

We used Dentinox cradle cap shampoo and that worked well for us

Use cradle cap shampoo and gently “scratch” the scalp back and forth to lift it. GENTLY LIKE BARELY MOVING. You can also pre oil the scalp before shampooing to help pre soften it. Try not to comb it out per say because its ripping out the hair. I done the same to my LO when he was little and he ended up bald. It was my mil who taught me how to take it off

Mustela Cradle cap shampoo + massage + brush

I’ve left it be and it’s really improving by itself

Using baby shampoo, then bought the fridamom cradle cap kit (sponge, soft brush and comb) Used once and never had to use again

@Alexia the only dilemma I have with this, is she has a full head of hair, so the brush never reaches the scalp. At least not with the soft bristle baby brush

@Melisa someone told me not to pick at it. It’s taking everything in me not to do it 😭😭😭 I did put oil in her hair before hand and it seemed to help! Thank you

@Maysa it’s in my basket I just wasn’t sure if it was worth buying! I have everything Mustela for her anyway so It’s definitely my brand of choice. How quickly did you see results and what method did you use?

@heather I am really trying to leave it but it’s sooooo hard not to

@Tarna-Renae did you just use any shampoo? Or is there one you recommend?

@Sophie I haven’t heard of this I’ll give it a search! Thanks

@Jenessa ohhhh I dunno if I can bring myself to use that. I am not a fan of the ingredients In head and shoulders 😭 thanks though

@Nicole yes dont pick at it but gently use the comb so slowly give it a scratch and help lift it (excuse the demonstration 😂)

I've used a gentle baby shampoo twice a week then coconut oil. I then gently detangle his hair. It wasn't initially to help with cradle cap (just to maintain his hair) but it's seemed to just get better on its own with time

@Nicole you need to use the Frida comb for cradle cap.

@Nicole less then a week!

Change what you’re brushing her hair with, that comb is probably scraping and making it worse. Use a soft brush gently don’t scratch or rub it. Use petroleum jelly if shampooing everyday is not working, not an oil.

You can massage the petroleum jelly and then wash with shampoo, or if you feel it’s necessary you can leave it on for longer. Oil can make it worse

@Jenessa my dr recommends this too and olive oil

My doctor said olive oil also and then don’t pick at it. It goes away on its own. The more you pick at it the more it’s irritating her skin.

This is entirely normal. Think about how many pieces of hair you lose daily. Everyone does. It looks like a lot because it’s hair that would have fallen out but that was stuck because of the cradle cap. We used Tgel for our kids.

Frida baby cradle cap kit and Dentinox shampoo. And it was gone within a week!

I put coconut oil on her hair left for 30 mins to an hour then combed through and tried to gently disrupt the cradle cap, then washed her hair with baby shampoo, and combed through again .. after the bath then put some more coconut oil again.. looks good!

I decided to shave her head to tackle it as she was starting to lose it anyway and had bald spots all over lol. Used a cream that is based on petroleum jelly and gently wiped it off with a wet wipe (seemed to work that way). Was cleared in 2 days. I also washed her head with a baby shampoo from Kokoso and used a soft sponge to massage the scalp.

Same thing happening with my LO with her hair falling out when I apply treatment. I think if your baby had lots of long hair like mine, the cradle cap scab seemed to be grown in with the hair follicle? I really don’t know how in this situation you can avoid losing the hair with the cradle cap scab 😢

i second detinox shampoo, head & shoulders shampoo & the freedamom kit!

Thank you guys this is really helpful
