Nursery

Hi gals, how much do you pay for nursery? Are you aware of any way to pay less? Prices are insane and would love to understand how you do it. I'd need to go back to work but I don't want to put everything I earn into nursery!

The main ways to knock down the bill for working parents who don't receive benefits are funded hours and tax free childcare. Nursery is just an expensive few years though, tbh! For four days a week we've paid £1200-1400 a month.

Two days a week we will be paying £620 a month before the 15 hours free comes in, that will drop down to about £370 a month for two days a week from September. We’ll be using child tax credits too so a little less than above x

@Caroline do you mean that if I receive benefits I should be entitled to get it for free or cheaper at least? 😍

If you’re receiving UC and working you may be able to claim back up to 85% of your childcare costs. It’s capped at around 1k a month which is huge if you’re eligible.

@Gabriella yep! I believe if you receive universal credit you can get up to 85% of the fees back! That's up to, so not a guaranteed amount as I think it depends on a few things how they work it out. Look into it if you do get any benefits!

I had no idea! Thank you so much!
