UC on SMP

Hello ladies, first time Mom here due next month💙I have done a calculator online to see if I am entitled to any help whilst on SMP and they said I can apply. For anyone who has done this, did you apply once baby was born or beforehand? Also, how long did a decision take?

I still have the form I need to fill it out and send it off had it for a while now but you can do it before I believe you're ment to do it before baby comes out but not 100% sure and just to pre warn you it's a big form I'm waiting on someone helping me fill it out so I don't get anything wrong on it lol x

I get enhanced SMP from my employment so until my enhanced stops or drops I ain’t entitled to UC, so I don’t believe I need to apply until after baby is here. I think it depends on individual circumstances x

@Molly yer on the gov website you can print off the form or get it sent to you in the post took about 1-2 weeks to get here in the post tho lol x

I applied before so it was all done when baby arrived except adding baby to the claim. It didn’t take that long but advised wait time is about 6 weeks to be paid. My first couple of payments were £0 as I was working.
