OBGYN charges

So I am venting a little. I’m not super happy with how my OBGYN office has been handling me financially. My third visit the ladies who handle insurance told me I owed over $400 for a vaginal birth starting from THEN till July. When I told them I didn’t have that right then, they kept asking me when will I have it. I couldn’t give them a date then because I needed to go home and work through finances with my partner. They were like “well how much can you give today” and I said $20 lol. Anyways, that is handled and it’s more just annoying that I felt like I was being harassed. However, I was having a medical emergency and called after hours. They advised me to go to the ER. I called an hour or so later to double confirm that what I should go. The OB on call said “ do what you’re comfortable with” and hung up. So they’re charging me $50 for that second conversation cause it wasn’t deemed urgent. I’ve called for way milder things that definitely weren’t urgent and they never charged. It’s just annoying to me because this whole process it has felt like a transaction to me. Granted I know American health care is a business.
