I have developed high blood pressure in pregnancy and am in a similar situation to you, and I totally get how you feel with the guilt :( They keep testing me for pre eclampsia though and so far all the tests have been negative, so hopefully it will stay that way x
I’m 38 and me and 3 other friends that had babies last year got postpartum preeclampsia, so I only know this from a postpartum perspective. None of us were on meds nor had BP issues before but our BP/preeclampsia got under control once we were on meds (after getting 24 hr. Magnesium too). Hopefully since you’re already on meds and it’s under control it’ll be ok! I’d say just take it day by day. It’s actually good your doctor is on alert for it so they can respond right away if needed. Good luck, either way you got this mama. Don’t beat yourself up, our bodies all respond in ways we can’t control during pregnancy too.
Don’t stress about this! I developed gestational hypertension (high blood pressure) and had to be induced and the experience was super safe and ok. The doctors and midwives will take super good care of you during delivery bc they literally see this every single day. It’s common, I think like 1 out of 10 woman develop a similar issue. I was stressed in the beginning as well and my blood pressure remained elevated throughout the entire pregnancy but ended up stabilizing after birth (which is the “cure” for preeclampsia). I still was on watch post partum but after two weeks it was back to normal range. The hospital team is super equipped to ensure everything with your baby goes smoothly and safely so rest assure that it will all be ok
I am sorry to hear you are struggling. You’re already such a good momma because you care so much about your little one! I’ve heard many success stories with people with HBP and pre-e by following the brewers diet. It’s worth looking into! I’ve also heard a vitamin B12 deficiency can play a role in pre-e, so making sure your b12 levels are good could help. My perinatologist checked my levels.
Not everyone, but you are at a higher risk of pre-eclampsia with HBP. The NHS information page (https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/related-conditions/complications/high-blood-pressure/) has more info but you will notice it is not an absolute - it is an added risk factor and it effects *some* people, not you have one so you will definitely get the other. And they know that you have a history of HBP so they will be monitoring you for any problems, which potential puts you in a better position than you would be if it just developed (which it can) and might or might not be caught before it got serious. There is more than enough mummy-guilt that we can heap on ourselves for the things we can control - don't burden yourself with guilt for the things you can't. This is were you are - you just have to do what you can from there. And I know from experience that is easy to say and really hard to do. If you have access to any form of councilling or wellbeing service it might be worth taking to someone. Good luck!
