Our doc told us to but when I asked what evidence there was that it would help, he actually couldn’t give me a lot. When I googled it and went down a bit of a rabbit hole,’it seemed like a lot of it was just anecdotal. I was apprehensive jsut because I have digestion issues so I’m wary my girl might too because of me. I started at 5.5 months only because she’s suffered with constipation and she had to take 60ml of laxatives daily which wasn’t feasible with 5ml syringes so we had to mix it with puree for her to take. We found it made her reflux worse for the first 2 months. Her reflux now is almost gone, when she has milk (not cooked in stuff) it comes back so we are seeing the doctor about that and possible milk ladder. It’s taken her 2-3 months to actually eat enough where I think it has helped. But they also say that it improves as they get older because their core strengthens and internally they mature enough that they’re more likely to keep it down.
One of the kids in our mum group was similar but they weaned early and it did seem to help them. So it might jsut be , it helps some and not others. I don’t think 24 weeks will make much difference. As those last 2 weeks they usually don’t actually eat that much anyway.
I honestly think 24 weeks is absolutely fine, he’s almost 6 months and 2 weeks won’t hurt him. As long as he can sit unaided it wouldn’t be an issue! I would just avoid any citrus or acidy foods as this will probably only make him worse! Good luck🤍
