Mam bottles letting water in when cooling

Hi ive been cooling my mam bottles in a jug of cold water for 2 months since baby was born and have just found out it’s letting water in approx 0.5-0.75 oz of water every time. I’m worried this has caused harm to my baby a) tap water b) with it diluting the formula Has anyone else been doing this and baby is fine

I found this with mam bottles so instead run them under the tap and that seems to do the trick x

We found this with our little boy.. we’d been doing it for longer! He’s now nearly two and absolutely fine. We started putting the bottle in a sandwich bag in the cold jug of water to cool it

You need to take the lid off the bottle to stand it in water to cool it down or heat it up. It’s because the pressure holds up with the lid on

@Rachel dd you used to use boiling water and cool without taking the lid cap of

I’ve now switched to mam easy active bottle

@Sana you don’t have to switch just loosen or take off the top so there’s no suction pressure 😊

Yeah I suppose I was just scared so I changed bottles

@Sana or do a hot shot method. So boil the kettle in a morning and fill up an empty bottle let it go cold. If your making a 4oz bottle try 1oz boiling water to mix formula and top up with 3oz of the cooled cold water. Just check the temp and alter how much you need no need to cool then. Previously boiled water is ok left out for 24hrs and in the fridge for a couple of days 😊.xx

@Jolou yeah I did that after I realised and now I have the prep machine

@L 💜 thanks for that! X

@Jen hopefully it works for you. I’m sure it won’t of done your LO any harm though.

@Jen how long did you cool it in a jug of water for until you realised

@Sana it was quite a few times 😬 never done her any harm she's 3 now but like you I didn't like that it was happening x

@Jen mine was every feed from birth up until 2 months

@Sana I really wouldn't worry you know, I'm sure your baby will be fine x
