More labor questions

So I've been hearing you can loose your mucus plug and not go into labor for one to three days, and I'm also hearing your water can break before losing your mucus plug. If there's a million things that can happen how do I know my body is in labor. You can also dilate before going into labor, how does that work with the mucus plug. I'm so confused

Yeah my friend lost her mucus plug over a week before she finally got induced because nothing was happening. And I didn't lose mine til I was in the pool, about 7cm dilated and my waters had broken about 12 hours before. I thinknits just sticky and can be stuck to one side or another or you don't even notice it's gone.

@Shannon so If I lose my mucus plug and my water breaks more then likely I'll go into labor ? But if I loose one or the other it could take a couple hours to a couple days or week

My mucus plug fell out a month before I had my son. I also contracted for a month before he came (yes real contractions not the Braxton hicks) Everyone is different though so I don’t really know how to answer your question. I was dilated to a two and they had to break my water and put me into labor because my water was not wanting to break on it’s on.
