F is for Febrile Convulsions

A febrile convulsion is a seizure caused by a high temperature. Febrile convulsions typically happen to children under the age of 6 and are most likely to happen between 18 months and 3 years. If you little one has a seizure you should: Time the seizure Call for an ambulance Remove any obstacles to avoid injury Cushion around their head to avoid injury After the seizure you should: Check their airway is clear and their breathing is normal Remove a layer of clothing or bedding Monitor them until the ambulance arrives
