Injection in stomach

Hi all, I had a planned c section, and I have been given 6 weeks of injections that I have to take from the hospital. Has anyone else had this? I can't stand them anymore its only been 2 weeks since I have been having them.

Yeah I had them they was horrible to do every day. I found If you pull your belly up a bit and then inject yourself with the other hand I didn’t feel it x

I had this but stopped because I was already very active so had less chance of blood clots.. Are you putting them into the numb area of your stomach? Why can’t you stand them?

They are the most painful thing ever, I feel for you! It's to stop blod clots. I only had them for 10 days and was bad only done them for 5 🫣 x

Hello! I had to have the injections daily from 10 weeks pregnant until 3 months after birth 🙈🙈 they were awful and I won’t lie, I skipped a few 😅 I found that further away from your belly button or right at the bottom of your stomach would be better. Xx

I had them for the same time as yourself....was also given them due to a DVT when I was 17 weeks pregnant so was given then for 2 weeks aswell. I've been taking weekly injection since I was 14 (I'm now 31) so they don't phase me at all. Is there a reason your struggling with them? Xxx

I had them for 6 weeks too! I laughed when the midwife said 6 weeks because I thought she was joking 😂

They are not nice but essential. Only people who are higher risk (numerous factors) have them. My friend stopped taking hers as she hated them. Ended up with DVT and spent 3 weeks in hospital as it had spread to her lungs. Please take them x

Yeah, but only for 10 days, thankfully. I feel for you doing 6 weeks 😞. I don't care about needles or anything but for the last 5/6 days it would make me feel really low that I had to have them every night and I'd have a little cry each time. They ache so much!! - I had mine in my thigh as I couldn't bare stomach after the c-sec xx

Does everyone have these? 🙈 going for my section this week and I had no idea - so would like to mentally prep myself if so 😂

I was given them for 10 days post c section, I took them in my stomach closer to the scar where it was numb, didn’t feel it as much but had to hype myself a lot. They are very important so please do take them, you can occasionally have them in the upper thigh area but stomach works best x

@Amy they are quite common hun. They prescribe enoxparin or something similar. And then the duration will depend on your factors....how much blood you lost during section, family history, bmi and blood pressure. Xxx

Yes I had them after mine . They are to help the blood not to clot

Yeah I had the 6 weeks too, they were horrible injections and so difficult to break the skin! I got sick of doing it in my belly so I started alternating my thighs because it said on the paper you could inject into thighs. I stopped at 5 weeks because I was back up and driving etc by 2 weeks so I didn’t feel like I needed 6 weeks worth really and I’d had enough! X

@Amy they do, but the amount depends on each person then! A lot of people have 10 days if they’re low risk, 6 weeks if high risk x

I'm on these and I've been on them since I was 24 weeks pregnant and gotta have them afterwards too, if you pull the skin and do it around tpur belly button it shouldn't hurt. get someone to help you x

Omg me or my partner couldn’t do this as we hate needles so bless me nan had to do it for me but omg 😱 it hurts but then the stuff hurts after it’s injected in the belly I do have deep stretch marks so it did and I bruised on both side of where the injections went

I've been on these for about 5 months. At the beginning I hated it and had to really gear up to it but after a couple of weeks it got easier. I do mine in my upper thighs. I find listening to a funny podcast and concentrating on that rather than the injection helps. Injecting slowly prevents bruising. I've never tried it but heard people recommend using an ice cube to numb the site. For me at least I think this would add to the build up that would increase anxiety. I've found just doing it and not thinking about it helps. Good luck!

@Amy - I didn't know either!! I believe 10 days is if you're low risk of clots and 6 weeks if you're higher risk x

@Amy some have them for 5,10 days or up to 6 weeks post op x

They stung so bad for me! I grabbed a section of belly either side of injection site then hubby stabbed me. 8/10 I didn't feel anything. Try not to inject same area They suck ass I had to have them 6 week either side of my section xxx

Ice the area for a few seconds it numbs it and really helps x

I had them for six weeks - was doing them in my thighs rather than stomach though! Gave up after 3 weeks as I was back up and active! X

I did them in my thighs. Couldn't bear to inject my stomach even though they recommended that. Just make sure it's a fatter piece of thigh cause I got a muscle once and it bruised badly

@Amy i did NOT have this nore hear of it. Had my c section 8 weeks ago.

I had them too and stopped them after the first 4 injections. DO NOT BE LIKE ME. It’s by the Grace of God that nothing happened to me. Please take all the medications and injections prescribed. I’m just grateful nothing happened to me.

@Mrs. M not even in hospital? X

@Mrs. M i think the rest of us are in the UK, maybe it’s not a thing in America?

I had them back in March, but my partner were helping me to inject them.

I only had them for 10 days though. But after 4 days and bruising 3 out of those 4 days, and once drawing blood because my husband stabbed a vein accidentally. I chickened out.

I had my blood thinner injections for 8 weeks I couldn’t do it in my stomach ended up doing it on my thighs

Yep, I have to take mine until 32 weeks, I am sick of it. My stomach is covered in bruises 😫

@Katrina that's unusual to stop during pregnancy. Usually it continues until after birth x

@Kerrianne this is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure, that's what I've been told by the consultant, not sure if it has something to do with the condition I have 🤔 x

Os it the fragmin. I jad to jave them for 10 days after my section and I swear to god each one got more painful. Although they didn't bother to show me how to do them.

Thanks all, they class me as high risk probably becoz of my age, as I had a c section b4 only had them for a few days. But this time around its longer. I have mentally prepare myself for it then my husband talk rubbish to me so I don't pay attention to him doing the injection. Stil got my compression stocking on.

@Danielle I hate needles, am moving around alot during the day, going out for walks.

I had them all the way through my last two pregnancies so 21 months in total. Horrible but worth it xxx

@Shaz I ended up opening my scar due to me not relaxing 🫣 had to have these adhesive plasters to help close it up

@Amy not everyone, I didn’t need any pre or post. It depends on your risk factor, they will have already assessed your clotting risk. I scored a 1.

@Sarah I was the exact same - from 10 months till 3 months after! Worth it though for sure 🩷

They weren't that bad once I discovered my numb spots (near the scar) and then I just didn't feel them. 6 weeks though? I only had to inject myself daily for 10 days. They did give me compression socks to wear.

For 10.days in my belly!

I had 10 days of them. But i was told to do them in my thighs as my belly was very tender 😫

I had these for 6 weeks too-they’re awful but so much better than getting a blood clot-I just kept that in mind every time I had one ☺️ I found taking my pain meds about half hour before helped & getting someone else to do it for you & the further away from the middle of my tummy as possible, I had mine mostly at my sides, the middle felt more sensitive! I also rewarded myself with an ice cream after every one ☺️ I recommend that!x

I had to have ten days of the anti blood clotting injections and I hated them, couldn't stand doing them myself and couldn't bare to do them in my stomach so thank god my ex did them for me though I think he enjoyed stabbing me way too much 😂 I was told I could either do it in my stomach, arm or leg.

I have them but only have to do 7 days

I had 10 days of them

I did mine for only 10 days for both c sections but this time around- I did mine in my thigh and it was sooo much better! Still got my husband to do them for me as I can’t, but they hardly hurt and apart from one time, I didn’t bruise half as much as I did in my stomach so perhaps try your thigh?

I've been using a small amount of tattoo numbing cream, cover in cling film, stick down with a plaster n leave for about an hour. I can't even feel them going in or coming out anymore. I've also got mine for 6 week x
