How far apart can Contractions be?

How far apart can first contractions be? I'm not sure if I'm having contractions but I keep getting sharp pains around an hour apart only lasting a few seconds. The bottom of my back and my lower belly ache. But I'm not sure if it's just baby's movements hurting.

Everyone is different, just keep an eye on them to see if they get any closer. I was having strong cramps in the front about every half hour or so for about 2 days on and off. I guess it was early stages but i had no clue. 2 days later i started bleeding and only then did i go to hospital, was still having sharp cramps about every 10 mins by this point but they werent terribly painful like they say so didnt know i was actually 4cm in labour at that point. But that was 2 days after first having those uncomfortable pains!

I would start paying attention to them if they get more painful, closer together and lasting longer or bubs movements reduce. If you’re at all worried then please go get checked. I’m not too sure about first contractions. I had a sweep earlier in the day and was 4cm then. I had on and off cramps and back pains that came in waves, discharge and honestly had to poop a lot. I only started paying attention when i got too uncomfortable, nothing was easing them and then I was timing them and they were around every 5mins and lasting around 30secs. How far along are you? Have you been particularly different in your day than usual? Bubs could be moving lower causing some pains and getting things going 🤞🏻

@Sharnee im 37+3 I was vomiting yesterday but feel loads better today. I've got no energy and then a few hours ago I started with back ache and what feels like period aches. Then every hour or so for the past 4 hours I get a sharp cramp like feeling but it doesn't last very long. I'll just keep timing it and see how things go. Little one is active as usual so I'm not worried. Just wasn't sure if he was causing the pains or not

@Sophie definitely understand, Pregnancy is crazy. If it makes you feel any better I didn’t know I was having proper contractions until too late and he was my second 😂 Hopefully everything eases off soon. You ready to meet bubs? 🥰

Contractions are also often accompanied with your abdomen going "hard" like poke a flexed calf or arm and how the muscle gets really tight there. Same idea.

@Sophie my first was very much like that... my contractions started like pms cramps and lower back pain. And the pain just kept intensifying. Got more frequent and eventually never stopped (for me it took 2 days before I had kiddo. But exactly like that was my early labor signs)

My first contractions were all over the place ranging from 10 minutes apart to 15 minutes at times last for a few seconds and getting longer (1:20 seconds) and getting closer together 5 minutes apart and then when I was around 8cm they were 2 minutes apart and so so painful I could of cried

I got to 9cm dilated without regular contractions, some would be 7 minutes apart then I’d got 20-40 minutes without one. I only went to hospital because I had to as my waters had been broken 24 hours. They told me I had a silent labour

My early labour contractions were about 5 min apart for a long time. My active labour contractions were about 20-30 min apart which was strange lol I almost didn’t get go checked again because they weren’t close together, but I ended up being 8cm when checked ☺️

In my case the first ones were like 10 minutes apart but in less than an hour they were like 6-4 minutes apart

My contractions were all over the place and short when they first started before my water broke also my stomach never got hard during contractions it was just. More of a sharp pain
