Always get a second opinion! Go to a provider in a different healthcare system if you can. If you see a doctor affiliated with one hospital then the second opinion should be from another doctor affiliated with a different hospital OR 2 different private doctors. That way they aren’t swayed by each others prognosis.

This is devastating news 😢🙏🏽 my heart and prayers go out to her family. Coping with such news, for me, involves leaning on my faith, community, and open dialogues like this one. It’s crucial to share our stories and support each other, advocating for better healthcare awareness and equity.

So Im not a black woman... but I can honestly say I feel like this problem is hugely universal right now.. i feel like our medical system is at its all time worst and I cant quite pinpoint what level is the blame...bc i have witnessed lack of care and procedure at every level where medical needs are concerned .... over the last 5 years... i have personally known 10 or more ppl that have been misdiagnosed ... or went to Er for something minor and ended up either dead .. on life support, sepsis, or put through some form of incompetent care resulting in more money, further issues or multiple procedure to correct the damage. My mother died at 64 ... after a very minor procedure on the day she was supposed to be discharged... It came out of no where.we have no reason ,no cause , and no accountability and we were forced to accept that bc there is no protection for patients and the family of patients against our medical system for lack of care and wrongful practices... theres no true advocacy in our hospitals..

And in order to advocate for ourselves it would entail full record of everything that occurred which is not something you can get without going through court and spending tons and tkns of money ...and even if you get to that point ... the chances that your are getting the correct information is controversial. C we know a hospital and its staff will protect itself to any extent...

This is infuriating. As a doula, I see this often. The tools used to diagnose and treat women of color in maternity are so biased and wrong. So many women get misdiagnosed and consequently over treated so many times in maternity let alone the broader healthcare system. It’s sickening. Of course it happens a lot to ALL women. But black women even more and I hope her story and legacy will push further change. Her death should not be in vain 🙏🏾

This is so sad 😞
