Diaper change vs potty training

16 month old (boy) is an absolute crocodile when it comes to changing diapers. He has taken it to the next level, where he now cries and wrestles us at every single diaper change, like he "hates it". No rash, no chaffing, nothing of the sort. Seeking advice on making diaper changes "pleasant" again and not a battle of the fittest. Heartbreaking to see him get so upset for a simple diaper change. He does point and voices (little pipsqueak) when he's gone 💩, so we know right away he needs a change. Even then it's a wrestling match. Pee diapers, automatic wrestling and crying. Potty training, he knows the potty and the toilet, but when we sit him on, he wants off. He'll pee on floor, while looking at the potty, but won't pee in potty. (Elimination communication at 8-11 months, but reduced since (long story and mom back at work)). 1) How to make diaper change pleasant again ? 2) How to potty train, while working mom, so can reduce the # diaper changes needed during day (night potty training will follow after daytime). Thanks

I think this is a phase because my almost 16 month old boy does this too and I literally have to pin his legs down to do up his diaper 🙃

Mine didn't like diaper change at 13 -14 months. I'll just distract her with miss Rachel. Put it on the phone and give her the phone and we're good. Sometimes I give her bottle and she's good Give your baby anything he likes to distract him during diaper changes. I haven't started potty training yet so can't advise on that. However I was told by my friend to wait until baby us ready and they'll ask for the potty. That's what worked with her son

I’m in the same boat. We have a small potty on the ground but my son HATES sitting on it but poops in the bathroom in his diaper 😂 I’m thinking about getting the toddler size part for the toilet to see if that helps.

@Elizabeth we have the built-in toddler toilet seat for our main floor bathroom, and a toddler removable seat for upstairs. He'll sit on either/both, even gets his toddler seat for upstairs, but won't do his business in toilet. Enjoys sitting on potty, with diaper and clothes on, while watching tv and just swaying side to side, like seated dancing.. lol...

@Karyn tried distractions and they're all no god with him, unfortunately. Try as I may, have yet to find something to calm/soothe him and deactive the crocodile escape mode... 🤷🏼‍♀️
