My baby boy is 4 weeks and 3 days today. He didn’t poop for 48 hours. And then pooped everything out the next day. I just gave him some gripe water to help with the gas and fussiness until it passed. 😊

Make sure she’s gettin enough water, try probotics for constipation, or Karo corn syrup. All of these worked for my son when he was much younger. Be careful with the karo syrup you don’t need a lot. Maybe a half a 🥄 or a teaspoon mixed into the milk

@Mia if under 6 months old — baby should be receiving nutrition and hydration from breast milk or formula, not water. 😬

@Kiara That’s why babies get constipated 😂. My baby was on formula so he needed water to thin everything out. Just like adults… you drink too much juice or soda. You’re gonna get constipated. Water balances everything out

my pedatrics told me to give me 2 month old an ounce of prune juice and let me tell u it made him poop in literally 30 seconds i kid u not 😭

and ever since that one time we gave him prune juice he’s been pooping like normal

1oz Prune juice / 1ozwater or suppository at the doctors , and formula change !

With my baby we did tummy massages, bicycle kicks, and then a warm bath. The bath is what finally got him to go. The next day he went like he usually does and he was in such a better mood afterwards.

If he's breastfed it can be normal for them to go days without pooping bc they use all of the nutrients and stuff up. If formula fed, I'm not sure.

If you’re uk based the hospital won’t do anything until day 8, my little boy was 2 months old and didn’t go for 10 days! It’s just their body changing! Unless there in excruciating pain it’s just a part of the process on day 10 he got a suppository just for his own well-being more than anything! He would always go every 6 ish days after that!x

@Mia Girlll.. It is inappropriate and unsafe to give water to young babies without talking to a doctor. And Comparing juice and soda intake in adults to breast milk/ formula intake in a baby is crazy. 🤦‍♀️ Fruit Juice w/o added sugar is actually considered to be a laxative. Fizzy drinks like soda that are high in sugar and low in fiber can slow down digestion and indirectly contribute to constipation. The caffeine in soda can also increase stomach acid production, worsen episodes of diarrhea, and contribute to constipation. It is not at all the same thing.

@Kiara as long as it’s less than an oz of boiled water there allowed it for constipation here in the uk this may be why she’s saying it, it definitely does work!

@Kiara My mom is a nurse, so I was in good hands. But yes, consult your doctor Salenthia!

I had my third kid have trouble too often I had to "help" is in when he was trying to or starting to I would fold his knees up and press them gently against stomach to help him have extra pressure to push it out

Water or prune juice! All living things need water so often babies get constipated due to the advice of today. 20 years ago hospital would give babies water at birth! Of course follow your gut. It’s worked for me and all my nieces/ nephews. I’ve been giving my boy water from 1 month and he’s been so much more settled and no longer constipated. Hope this helps 💦✨

Give him a massage in the stomach and do little tummy exercises he might have something stuck and needs help or even prune helps a lot

@Mia thank you

Unless specifically told by your doctor, do NOT give them anything this young but breastmilk or formula to drink (excluding medicines). So no water, no prunes, no juices, etc.. until you’ve asked your doctor. We would use probiotic drops for constipation as well as Mylicon for gas relief which sometimes helped with his constipation too. Just read the bottles to make sure they’re okay for newborn. Bicycle legs and tummy massages help a lot too! We would just YouTube the tummy massages at first and it did wonders for his constipation and gas.

It happens the same thing to my baby when he was around that age. Don’t worry he will go back to his regular pooping. Just drink a lot of water and make sure to eat a lot of fiber. Also pear juice drink it a lot help me :)

Haha drink lemonade . It’s easy but don’t eat too much food with it.

His gas is good but still no poop I think I’ll just take him to emergency room this has me a lil worried

Thank you ladies so much 😔

We would put a little bit of apple or prune juice in ours bottle a couple times a day and it really helped him. Don’t give your baby water before 6 months. If your iffy about anything confined in knowledge from your pediatrician.

Give 1oz of prune juice/1oz of water. Can even try apple juice, you can also get coloxyl for babies too.

Mylicon plus all the leg exercises and Tummy massage and like someone said up above followed by warm bath

Girl don’t give that baby any drugs it did nothing for my boy except for Prune juice. I wish someone had told me earlier during my time

The prune juice worked thanks ladies

Pear juice

Karo syrup in baby’s milk . Should do the trick
