Im looking for bilingual friends!
Im a first time expecting parent, my partner is from Mexico and exclusively speaks Spanish, we plan to raise our baby bilingual. Im hoping to connect with other bilingual parents because I’m nervous how it will work to raise them with both languages, and if they will be able to learn Spanish as easily if their dad is working most of the time and we only speak Spanish in the evenings. I’d love tips or advice from bilingual parents as well as for me and my kids to have Spanish speaking friends.
Estoy esperando por mi primero hijo con mi novio de México, queremos enseñar los hijos inglés y español. Mi español no esta perfecta entonces voy a enseñar inglés y mi novio español pero estoy preocupada que mis hijos no van a escuchar español suficiente para aprender sin ayuda porque sus padre estaré trabajando. Quiero por mis hijos a tener amigos que hablan Español y quiero hablar a otras madres bilingües también.

Every time your husband talks to your baby, have him speak in Spanish. And when your baby is old enough to talk, they’ll talk to him in Spanish. Including his side of the family. And for you, talk to your baby in english (or whatever language) and your baby will talk to you in English. Same goes with your family. Hopefully this will help out a lot
I mainly speak to our daughter in Spanish but her dad speaks english. If we lived closer I would have loved to meet up

My husband is from Mexico and although he does speak English, most of his family speaks only Spanish. My son is 19 months so he’s not super verbal yet but we are doing our best to use both languages in our home. My husband and I only communicate to each other in Spanish so he at least over hears that. I’ve also been putting my sons favorite movies on with Spanish audio and he seems to not be opposed to it 😅 some of the Spanish programming on YouTube he wants no part of lol
