Elective - Afternoon slot

If you had the afternoon slot what time did you deliver? Did you have visitors the same day (grandparents)? I was booked for morning slot but I’ve been moved to afternoon (I understand of course) however, it’s kind of thrown my plan for my parents visiting first slot then my fiancé’s visiting second slot - I was hoping to get the visits out the way in hospital to have a few days on our own at home. I’m only expected to be in hospital for 24 hours. I can’t imagine I’ll feel up for visits that soon after coming out of the surgery especially as I plan on breastfeeding.

I had a c section 2 months ago and I was the last slot at 4.30 x

We were all asked to come in for 7am. First one went in at 9am. I was supposed to be 2nd but there were no beds so my baby was delivered at 3pm and one woman went after me around 4/5pm and they pushed the rest back to the next day. I still had visitors though around 7pm. See how you feel afterwards. I didn't think I would want visitors but it was nice for the family to come see the baby ☺️

if it helps, i had a morning slot and went at 11:30, out by 12:30, in recovery for 2/3 hr and then was quite out of it and didn’t want any visitors until about 7/8pm

although have you checked your hospitals policy? as mine is only allowing 1 visitor per day + birth partner and you can’t swap them

i definitely wouldn’t have had visitors but it was my baby’s father so i had to allow him in, he wasn’t my birth partner

@Libby yes I spoke with them today at pre-op the slots are 2-4 then 6-8 and you can have 2 people plus partner x

Check your hospital policy. I was only allowed 1 visitor plus my birthing partner. No one else was able to visit. I had my section at 230pm, and normally they don’t let anyone visit until you are out of the recovery ward which is 2-3 hours, depending on how you are.

I was afternoon baby was born at 2.23pm. My mum came straight to visit when I got onto the ward. And then my dad came to visit the next morning before we were discharged so that we could just have a few days at home together with no visitors x

We all had to come in early but I ended up being the last as other women were higher risk and one was an emergency. Had the c-section at 1:05 and baby was born 1:15. We weren’t allowed visitors until I’d been in recovery for 2 hours, then had another 2 hours of observations. If I’m honest, I chose not to have visitors as I was in pain, bed bound and still had a catheter in until the next morning - but I imagine if you’re up to it you’re fine for visitors once you’re back out of recovery :)

If you’re having it in the afternoon then I wouldn’t be surprised if you are still in 7-8pm the following day.. I had one 9 weeks ago at 1pm and even after nagging etc by the time they do all the checks on baby (like 3 different people) get you your meds, discharge paperwork etc it was like 7pm - you’ll probably have time the following day for 2 lots of visitors x
