Some banks have an emergency limit that you can go overdrawn by so you don't have a missed payment on your bill. For example barclays let's you go 15 over your overdraft

It sometimes also happens that this takes a whole day to reflect back into your account as the balance isn’t actually available

Who confirmed the payment would bounce?

@Jai I had a message that it would by 2:30

@lynne I don't have a overdraft on the account x

I used to work for a bank and they should have a department to help set up a temp overdraft to cover the excess, if you contact them and let them know your in financial difficulties they have to try and help!

My OH works for a bank and says that if it's a direct debit or standing order they can't be cancelled, the payment will go through and will only reject once the bank say there's no money but it will show as if it's gone out (you should have an I arranged overdraft on account) You'll need to speak to the debiting company to say there's no money to pay the bill and when they can take it

Thank you all I will contact them tomorrow x
