Cleft lip

I was on some medication which increased my risk of cleft lip and now it's all that's going through my mind after seeing these 32 week scan photos, I know I could be just seeing what my over active brain says but the lips look quite prominent. Probably nothing I know and all is well, guess I just wanted to vent my worried musings somewhere to those who understand ☺️

Did you have checks for cleft lip/palate during 20 weeks anomaly scan? It just looks like a well formed lip to me, but I'm not a professional and wouldn't know what to look for x

@Caitlin I honestly can't remember, can't remember it being mentioned. Sure Sonographer would have said something. Think it's just that over thinking thing we sometimes do isn't it! His daddy has big beautiful lips so hopefully has inherited those 😅🤭 x x

Someone would definitely have mentioned this to you the lip formation is checked at your 20 week scan. They would have mentioned it with these pictures if they thought it was. Just looks like a pouty baby to me🥰 I also think a cleft lip would show in that angle as dark, like the nostrils of the nose, because its essentially a gap or hole in the lip. As for cleft inside the palette, I dont think yoi can tell that until birth x

They definitely check baby’s nose, lip etc at 20 weeks scan and they would definitely of flagged it if it was an issue. 🤍

@Laura-louise same here! That's what I was on for ages and the benefit outweighed the risk for sure but the amount of people who mentioned cleft lip 🤯 I think that's why I've got myself in a tizzle now! X
