Day naps

What is everyone doing for day naps? Our little one is 3 weeks. We normally have a feed, change nappy, do some wake window activities, then soothe ready for nap. If I then put her down in her pram so she can be in the same room as me, she might sleep for 10 mins or so then wake up and get upset. The only way we get full day time naps is if she is in the baby carrier or being held. Interested to hear how others are coping?

Same but he will sleep in the pan when we go out for a walk and then stays asleep when we get home so I get an hour or so in the morning after our walk to get stuff done. Pushing him in the house or garden doesn't seem to work only a proper walk no idea why

Until this week I could put baby down anywhere and she would sleep. Since hitting 4 weeks she will only sleep while being cuddles or in the car seat. You have to rock her forever to settle her to a deep sleep then you can move her to where ever you need her to be

Mine is 3 weeks too, she’ll go down in her moses basket downstairs during the day. If she doesn’t settle easily I’ll swaddle her as sometimes that helps but otherwise I just enjoy the cuddle and then slowly transition her when she’s in a deep sleep. Sometimes a dummy or the white noise machine helps too. But I appreciate currently I’m able to just hold her and not stress about not doing anything whereas that’s not the same for everyone x

Mines 4 weeks now and just doesn’t want to nap in the day she goes about ten minutes and then feeds then sleeps in your arms, I put her down and she wakes after five mins again and it’s a constant cycle all day until bedtime 🙃 she’ll sleep in the pram in a walk but wakes as soon as we hit the driveway 🤣

My little boy is 5 weeks. He’ll sleep really nicely in the sling for hours. It’s hit and miss if he sleeps in the Moses basket but he won’t go to sleep in there, he has to be rocked first. Sleeping in my arms is also a bit hit and miss, he startles and wakes himself regularly so never has a proper nap.

Baby wearing for the first nap so he will do a long nap, then the other naps I either put him in his crib (which usually means a short 30-40 minutes nap) or I put him on a pillow in my sofa (I'm supervising), which makes him take longer naps as well. I also use the sling if he is resisting sleep, because he always falls asleep when I'm wearing him.

@Shannon same here! Except mine doesn’t even sleep in the pram 🙃 I thought newborns were meant to sleep most of the day!

@Sharon it’s a nightmare isn’t it 🤣 she sleeps in the pram on a walk but won’t sleep in it in the house being pushed I’ve tried 🤣 and now she’s going through a stage of only sleeping in her swinging chair and not her crib downstairs 🤦🏽‍♀️x

@Shannon absolute nightmare! My boy will only sleep on us which, although I do enjoy, means I can’t nap the same time so am pretty exhausted! 🫠

The last two days my boy has been cluster feeding and. Cat napping in the day unless in his carrier. If he sleeps and frees me up I’m game so I’ve just put him in after trying all morning to get a proper nap out of him.
