Short cervix and UTI

Hi! I was diagnosed with short cervix at my Anatomy scan (24mm), after which I was prescribed progesterone. In the scan after a week I was doing good and stable at 25mm but a follow up scan yesterday showed it decreased to 19mm. They sent me for follow up tests and I tested positive for UTI. Could this be the reason for shortening?

I was also diagnosed with short cervix and taking progesterone as well (vaginally). Although mine has been steadily about the same measurement, my doctor did tell me that a full bladder might make cervix a little smaller. I don’t know facts, it’s just my experience and what I was told I hope it helps!

It’s called incompetent cervix. You should ask doctor about receiving a cerclage. It’s a stitch that helps keep the cervix closed until the baby is supposed to be born. I experienced it 3 times (lost two children due to them being born early because of it) but I have one in with my current pregnancy and I’m experiencing no issues.

@Nicole My Doctor said I don’t qualify for cerclage yet because it not under 15mm

How many weeks are you?

@Nicole what were your measurements and how early did you had your two babies if you don’t mind me asking? I’m sorry for your losses 🥺

22.5 weeks

@Gigi thank you. 17 weeks & 24 weeks. I’m not sure I just went into early labor, they couldn’t stop the contractions because my cervix was already shortening. & with the 24 week old I had an emergency c-section bc I was dilating & she was still breeched

@Nicole it must have been really tough, I can’t even imagine. I’m glad you have a healthy baby on it’s way 💖 my last scan I was having contractions which seem to be normal throughout the whole pregnancy but I couldn’t really feel anything. They just prescribed me progesterone. I pray every day and believe everything will be just fine 🙏🏽💖

@Gigi appreciate it🤍 congratulations to you!! When is your due date?

@Nicole sept 15th 🙏🏽
