We tried using underwear for a week and a half but he had multiple accidents every day. I finally just had to take his clothes off and do it naked for him from the waist down. I think just the sensation of a waist band gave him the idea he could go pee/poop in his underwear because that's all he knew. This worked really well, and within two days or so he was using the potty consistently peeing. For poop we had to give him privacy and a toy to play with while he waited.
@Celeste I do have rewards for him if he goes potty but it doesn’t seem to get any better.
@Amber I’ll try leaving him naked and seeing if that helps.
My LO had to help clean up the accident. She had to take her own wet underwear, pants, and sometimes socks off by herself. She hated doing it. I would clean most of the mess up while she changed clothes, and then she would have to wipe up the rsst. We also did rewards.
Do you have incentives/rewards? I created a treasure box system with little toys that he prefers. Also, do not switch between diapers and underwear, it’s one or the other. I am on day 7 with my 3.5 year old and we’ve had a lot of success peeing… but no success with poop yet.
