Others negativity

Wondering if others are the same. Finding people, colleagues, family even people you barely know, seem to enjoy telling you how much harder life will be once you have a baby and ‘just you wait’ and ‘you’ll never sleep again’ even had ‘your life is over’… Frustrating as personally would never say something like this to others, want to be able to feel excited to meet my little one and the new change in life. Well aware it’s going to be very challenging but also filled with lots of love. Just want to enjoy and make the most of (when possible 3rd trimester is tiring!) the last time as just a two and finding all the negativity very draining :(

I agree. I'd prefer people to tell me that it will all be fine or i'll do a good job or offer some help 😆

Yep! For some reason when you’re pregnant, other women in particular, feel like they can say the daftest stuff to you and it’s usually negative/critical. I hope this generation of mother’s changes that. Whenever I see another pregnant lady or a new mum I make sure to tell her she’s looking great, doing a fab job and encourage the positives! I wish someone had done the same to me in those early days of becoming a new mum. It would have meant the world!

‘Just you wait’ can be such a lovely thing, but people always use it negatively! My friends are recently new Mum’s and one (still in the trenches) is so positive! Just you wait until they look up at you and smile, just you wait until they grab your hand for the first time, just you wait until you hit your first milestone that you thought would defeat you, just you wait until you get cuddles. She’s so lovely, and even says newborn sleep is sooooo much better than the pregnancy insomnia lol. My other friend desperately tries to be positive, but she is a bit negative sometimes, but I know it’s just because she’s still struggling with a couple of things. But she’s got lots of support from us all 🥰. I do the same as Chloe if anyone says anything negative 😂. I just go, I can’t wait. (They don’t need to know I’m super nervous inside 😂😂). Xx

Definitely ignore people. The start is hard, but all the positives far out weigh the negatives! I’m having my second in August and we are going to have 2 under 2, the amount of people who were negative when we announced our second with comments like are you crazy and oh you’re never going to sleep again. It made me worry we’d done the wrong thing but now we just ignore the negative comments and can’t wait to meet them and all the mile stones like their first smile etc :) And even though you are tired with a newborn it’s different, and you aren’t working anymore so you can just focus on you and your baby :) xx

Thank you!! Lovely to hear the positives from your girls and unfortunately you’ve had similar experiences! We’ve got this and it’s going to be fine! So looking forward to this new chapter in my life and seeing all the wonderful first moments! Xx

Life will never be the same, simple things like popping to the shop become so much harder, but oh my gosh, becoming a mum is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. I had pnd after my son was born so life was definitely not all sunshine but it is the most amazing thing. My son is 3 and I still look at him and can't believe he's ours. I try to be realistic with new mums, not too negative but I don't shy away from the struggles maybe that will help another mum
