Not currently but had them after my previous c section. They can sting a fair amount, just try to pinch the skin as it helps a lot. I also got my partner to do it as it was much easier than doing it myself. I’ve also seen some people say putting an ice cube on the spot for a couple minutes prior to injecting helps take away some of the sting
Hi, I started a couple weeks ago, the ones I have been given are pre prepared. Once you do it a few times you get used to it. Some days you’ll get bruises other days you won’t! Good luck!
Had them throughout my first pregnancy + for 6 weeks after and have had them from the beginning of this pregnancy as well. TBH I despise them. I find them incredibly painful in comparison to other medications I have to self inject, and I can only do them in certain parts of my tummy so it’s all bruised up and sometimes bleeds a lot because there’s already a bruise there Sorry I have no advice other than pinch the skin really well, and try to do it at the same time every day so you’re forced to just get on with it even though they suck
@Sharon Oooo good to know that one isn’t too bad! I’ve always been on Delteparin/Fragmin and the needles are Huge. Way more painful than my chemotherapy. Might ask to switch!
I’ve been on fragmin and they’re tiny needles but are a bit stingy. Best tip is don’t rub the skin after as it aggravates it/makes it sting more!
Yep I am! I’m injecting in the top of my thigh, I find sticking ice cubes on the area to inject before really helps with the soreness
Thank you all so much for your replies ❤️
I’m on them now and was for 8 weeks after my c section last time as I’m at increased risk. I’ve got prepared syringes and injecting into my lower belly which I can still pinch, but has my tummy grows I’m not sure where I’ll inject 🤷🏼♀️ I really don’t like doing it, and made the mistake of not flicking it to remove any air a few times which can be quite sore, but getting better and I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon.
I’m also working on a rewards based system where I have to do it before I can have an evening treat 🍪
I forgot to say - the main trick with the needles is not to hesitate at all. If you try to do it slowly, it might sting a bit. Just jab it in like a dart.
Me! I have been injecting myself for nearly two years now as prior to this pregnancy I was doing IVF (including blood thinners for the first trimester) then the OB put me back on them again from week 28. I was nervous about it too at first, but you get used to it and it’s very simple. If you’re on enoxaparin (Inhixa) it will come as a pre-filled syringe so there’s no faffing around trying to pull the liquid into the syringe (by far the hardest part). You literally just pinch an inch of tummy fat, inject, pull it out, chuck it in the sharps bin. The needles are very small so at the most you might feel a little scratch, but I have found that sometimes I get a painless bruise the next day. No other sides effects though. Just swap sides each time you do it so you’re not injecting the same spot over and over. And every time you do one, give yourself a little treat for being brave. 👍
