Newborn reflux

My little girl is 19 days old. Pretty much from the day we brought her home the hospital she’s been showing weird signs of irritability and discomfort. It almost looked like she was gagging herself. I blew it off to her being new and learning about the world. About two days later she completely threw up out of her nose and her mouth. I spoke with her pediatrician the next day as well as our lactation consultant, they blew it off noting it was just her being a baby and this happens. Since then I spoke with the pediatrician more about reflux and she disregarded me saying all new norms do this. Yesterday my daughter threw up what looked like days worth of breast milk all over her me and her swing. It was so scary as it kept pouring out and she was coughing. I called the doc immediately and they brought her in. They referred us to ER as they wanted to rule out pyloric stenosis which they ruled out after ultrasound. They are chucking this us to reflux and referred me back to her pediatrician. For now I need to feed her more frequently but smaller portions. Again I am feeding her breast milk with breast and 2x per day with bottle. Also keeping her upright 30 mins after feeding. Otherwise I am at a loose Nd don’t know what to do. Any moms have little ones struggling with this and have any tips to help baby?

Stop all dairy

My daughter had reflux and her pediatrician dismissed it for the longest time until I started recording her episodes. She put her omeprazole and we kept feeding her less but more frequent and burping and sitting her up for at least 30min. It was a rough phase. Buttt it does get better my daughter is now 15 months. My recommendation would be record it and trust your motherly instincts.

@Amuna at what age did your daughter overcome acid reflux? My LO is 9+ weeks and he’s on lanzoprazole since he was 2 weeks old. I am wondering when does this get better.

When she was able to kinda have head control and sit so around 4months is when it just disappeared like nothing happened.

I was thinking the same. Such a relief to hear this 💖

It genuinely could be Gerd. And if it is some thing they outgrow unless she’s not able to gain weight and then they have to look at other options I know goats milk formula really helped our son a ton and adding in organic cereal to the bottle but I would confirm with your pediatrician before doing that. Ours was OK with it but he’s old school.
