Are you eating absolutely zero sugar? Thrush loves sugar.
I have similar I just used the internal cream which nhs website states is safe as it's clotmizarole . The pessary rarely works for me as it just doesn't melt it down so well see. I am trying to eat healthier. I find it embarrassing to keep rings the gp for it but also the treatment is so expensive.
Thanks for the info, can you take the antibiotics whilst pregnant? I had some bloods which said I do have a mild infection to but the drs just said to redo the bloods in 6 weeks! I am having some sugar! I will stop completely if that helps!!
Drs will know if it's safe and I'm surprises they didn't treat you for a mild infection. Also antibiotics can also cause thrush.
Dont put any soap in that area when you wash, throughly rise the vag before getting out the shower incase soap from your body dripped down there. When washing underwear, dont use them straight away. Leave a few days before wearing so make sure you have loads. When going to sleep dont wear undies, allow the area to breathe. This is all i can remember from the advice they gave me when i had it years ago.
@Sophie antibiotics doesn't treat thrush, thrush is a build up of yeast not bacteria. Thrush is actually a side effect of antibiotics.
Do you take probiotics? If not it may be a good idea to start as they really help x
Tmi- I've had thrush since I was 11 and it's been so much worse during pregnancy. My mam used to just give me cream she used to use. She was shocked I had it so young but my puberty started very early on. My midwife got the same thing prescribed and the pessary worked- it cleared any internal itching. But the cream is so useless. It just keeps coming back. My cl*t gets frickin itchy and the area around and it makes it so sore too. It used to only be itchy on less inconvenient areas and now it's itchy in all sensitive places. It used to be bad, but it got so much worse. I should have gotten help for it years ago.
Unfortunately I was also one of the people who suffered with increased occurrences of thrush when pregnant. I just persevered with the cream as they wouldn’t really give anything stronger
@Mikaila well my drs prescribed me with fluconazole antibiotics for recurrent thrush and it’s the only thing that cleared it up for me.
@Sophie thrush is caused by a yeast not a bacteria and no antibiotic will help thrush. In fact it makes it worse because antibiotics will kill of beneficial bacteria trying to keep thrush in check x
Sadly I’ve suffered from recurrent thrush from 23 weeks (I’m not 36 & still suffering) I’ve just got a constant prescription for clotrimazole 2% cream, wear pads/liners with cotton underwear & it’s much more manageable now. Press your gp / midwife for a swab to check it’s just general yeast infection & nothing else too X
Girl I feel you! A few years ago I had it constantly. I know that pregnancy makes us a lot more susceptible to thrush due to our immune system being altered and our immune system plays a big part in keeping thrush in check. For me the things that help me with thrush are no gluten or dairy in my diet other than low lactose dairy like butter or aged cheese. Garlic is the best natural killer of yeast, try and eat lots of garlic! If you don’t like garlic you can buy capsules called allimax they have pure allicin in them which is the anti yeast ingredient in garlic, but it’s advised you only take x4 capsules max a day when pregnant so if I can feel thrush coming I take x2 in the morning and x2 at night. Coconut oil is also anti yeast so cook with that and have coconut milk! Boric acid capsules inside your Vagina really help thrush too and it’s a natural alternative to canestan. A good probiotic, walking, low stress! Hope you feel better soon x
There is a tablet you can get from the pharmacy, which costs around £3 which is cheaper than creams and works better (it's only one tablet). It will start working within 24hrs if I remember. No creams worked for me as I have constantly been having trouble since having my LO over a Yr ago, but this tablet works great. I get mine from ASDA pharmacy whilst I do my shopping. I can't remember the name but I just ask for the "pill/tablet for vaginal thrush". I don't waste my time with doctors as they don't care and most don't even know what they are doing as I got prescribed bodywash cream when I first went...really!!

I've had this recurring in the past, I've found that just keeping myself dry and changing underwear a little more frequently stopped it coming back.
they need to give you antibiotics not caneston! just say to them that it clearly isn’t working so I want something else. some drs just do not care x
