I work as a nurse in a school. I told the other nurses on the team and 2 teachers who I'm close to. I figured the rest of the staff will guess as the advert is out for my maternity cover and everyone else in my team is done having kids, and from the growing bump. I didn't want to make a big announcement about it as I don't speak to anyone besides our team and the 2 teachers outside of work and don't really think it's their business. Somehow the kids haven't realised except 1 who asked why I wasn't in my uniform top anymore at work so I was honest and told him why, expecting it to go round which hasn't happened!
@Caitlin I work very closely with these people so at some point it's pretty obvious. Like I said, I would say we're friends or would hang out outside of work but at work were all very friendly and chatty (more of a work friends situation I guess) I'd like to share with them, i just don't know how to without feeling like I'm making it a big thing lol
I told my immediate team, they were expecting it any way. And my principal. I never mentioned anything to the rest of the staff. Lol. Just kept getting bigger. Being a supervisor might be different. You may just mention it at a meeting. I’m pregnant and will taking leave on x date. So and so will take over while I’m out. Something like that. Keep it professional and to the point.
