Firstly i want to say im so sorry for your loss 🤍 Secondly I would say it should be as you wouldnt be go through all this had you not been pregnant. However, knowing usual work clauses with most things I would say extended leave due to mental health around the MC probably wouldnt be classed as pregnancy related as technically you are no longer pregnant 🤷🏼♀️. I would double check with HR if I were you.
I had a look at the Maternity policy for our trust and it says normal sick leave applies for a miscarriage if it is before the 25th week. If you can, have a look at the Maternity policy on the intranet. https://www.england.nhs.uk/2024/03/paid-leave-for-nhs-staff-experiencing-pregnancy-loss/#:~:text=Women%20who%20experience%20a%20miscarriage,eligible%20for%20paid%20maternity%20leave. https://maternityaction.org.uk/advice/miscarriage-stillbirth-and-neonatal-death-rights-to-time-off-and-pay-for-parents/#:~:text=If%20you%20need%20time%20off%20sick%20as%20a%20result%20of,sickness%20absence%20following%20a%20miscarriage. According to the Maternity Action website it is up to the GP to certify whether it is pregnancy related.
I experienced the same, and my leave was classed as pregnancy related. Maybe check your policy, or with HR. It should say. Sorry, hope you’re ok
You should get a 2 week period off now due to the new law. Anything after that won’t be classed as pregnancy related. I lost my daughter at 23+6 last year and didn’t get anything. Had to get a sick note for 6 months x
I would say this counts as pregnancy related, I had time off after a miscarriage and my work labelled it as normal sick time but changed it when I questioned it. I think there's a cut off, for example if it's more than so many months after miscarriage then it doesn't count as pregnancy related anymore. Definitely question it because you don't want it on your sickness record if you can avoid it, especially if it will take you into sickness management which I personally found very stressful as well. I hope you're feeling better soon
