Kaiser insurance benefits

Hello!! FTM entering 2nd trimester and new to California and Kaiser. I would like to know what are the advantages I can take from Kaiser HMO insurance apart from the routine check-up. For ex, I knew free breast pump but they seem to have only 2 options which are not wearable pumps. Are there others I need to know about? What else can I get for free/discounted via insurance so that I can check it off of my shopping list? TIA!!

Are you from northern ca? Same thing with me, but if I change my location on the app for so cal. I get 7 different options and can upgrade breast pump. Not sure why but more options!

@Suzanna Yes I'm from Northern California

You have to talk with members services and see what your level of coverage offers. I'm full coverage, paid nothing for my hospital or csection but only had 2 pump options. Reach out to members services, they are your best best!! Congratulations!

I had two options of free pump (they recommended the Medela) but there were options to pay extra to upgrade and that list had some wearables. I'm NorCal too

They have some free virtual classes to take as well

Definitely take the free baby care/pregnancy/nursing classes. They are awesome

@Marie thank you, this is a good option.

@Chella I did not know about these, thank you. Will my gynaec / NP provide me the details about it during our visits or do I need to look up and sign up to these classes?

You can get the Elvie or the willow for a discounted rate and the amajoy is wireless which is their free one

You can sign up for the courses on your kp.org account. And yes nor cal and so cal Kaiser are separate but there should be upgrade options for your pump as well as the free ones. I signed up for the financial aid and I didn’t pay anything for any of my dr apps or my birthing stay.

I would personally recommend the medela which works fantastically at getting milk out and emptying you. It also comes with a battery pack so you don't necessarily have to be tied to an outlet. I use a cross body bag to carry around the unit and get stuff done while pumping when needed!

Also just want to throw this out there- wearables are not recommended for primary pump they can decrease your supply

@Justin this is good to know, thank you.
