They can literally be one way or another, it’s comforting knowing I’m doing what I can, and that it could be insulin resistance, thank you
Hi Neve, I’m also 18 weeks and on closed loop. If it’s any reassurance my sugars are definitely starting to spike and so making changes every few days. If you want to chat more feel free to reach out. Xx
@Laina thank you, I’m so worried! I’m counting down the days until I can speak to my doctors x
@Neve I'm sure doctors are expecting it. Unfortunately we cannot avoid the insulin resistance and the spikes, but as long as it doesn't last for days, it should be fine. We are only human and there's only so much we can control. My doctors are very understanding and kind, I hope yours are too ☺️
@Neve my nurses/doctors remind me I can call them in between apts. Could you consider that , if it’s causing alot of stress/you’re worried?
How high are your readings? Around 16 weeks is when the insulin resistance starts to kick in. Your blood sugars will go high sometimes, unfortunately it cannot be avoided, but a few hours a day (depending how high) should not cause any issues. When you talk to your doctor they will probably adjust the carb ratio. I've been on the closed loop system for over a year and it's been a lifesaver during pregnancy. Just needs adjustments every now and then since our bodies go crazy during pregnancy ☺️
