You mean how much do I give him ? 😂😉
I just use his credit card
@Lindsay YAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS 💪
We have a joint account now. However it wasn't like that the entire time we were together. So before we had the joint account I got whatever amount I needed 🤷🏻♀️ he did the bills, we did grocery lists together and if I wanted something while he wasn't home I just asked if the money was there. However, now that we have the joint account I pay everything and we ask each other to spend the rest.
Why don't you have a joint account? (Not an attack or bash, just see these types of questions a lot and don't understand reasoning to not have joint accounts if married.)
I’ve been supporting my husband for a couple of years while he’s been in school- I send him $1000 whenever his account gets low, and I cover all the bills (he gets a lot of the groceries).
I'm just on his credit cards and just spend what I want. There's a specific he tells me to use for the baby and groceries, so like the necessities. Then another one I use for just regular spending
I'm in the UK, my partner gets paid about £2k after tax per month which is topped up by around £1k by Universal Credit because we have two children. We have a joint account which he deposits his wage into, then I transfer each of our contributions to the bills account and sort food shopping. We both have access to the joint account but I don't tend to touch it as I keep a decent chunk of the UC back for myself (which he wants me to do). You are probably entitled to some sort of top up, even if only a few hundred a month that you could get paid direct to yourself. Worth applying :)
@Alyssa honestly it's mostly just because we haven't got around to it. We're not actually married and I'm not a spender, he is. I use very little of what he gives me and he deals with all the finances. Even though we've been together for years, everything is in his name. Not great for me I know 😂 but we have a ridiculously solid relationship.
@Amber I'm pretty sure we're not eligible, I checked when I got pregnant as I lost my job back then and our situation has only improved from then.
I have his credit card, and a joint account. He gives me about $2000/month for my emergency fund. I’m a SAHM, and he makes 6-figures.
We have our own separate accounts and joint accounts for bigger savings. I don’t work anymore but I have a ton of savings from investments I made when I was younger. He works as an independent contractor and I help him sometimes with company things so we’re both employees of our own company. He gets paid from multiple projects and then we determine an hourly rate for us and pay ourselves equal salaries (about $4k each after tax). Anything in excess stays in the companies account. I manage most of the finances. He gives me extra if I need. I give him extra if he needs.
We have a joint account although I have mine own account too, because I work like an hour & a half at night & that goes in my account.
I get $1000 a month mainly to pay for a couple credit cards i had while I was still working and other stuff for me. But he also gives me money whenever i ask. And I have his credit card but thats mainly for emergencies. We keep saying we going to get a joint account but same we haven't really gotten around to it

Might be worth checking again about entitlement to UC as it will have increased now you have a child.
We have a joint account and joint CCs. It simplifies everything for us. Don’t know if there’s any difference with us being in the US.
