Anyone’s low lying placenta moved the wrong way?

I was diagnosed with low lying placenta at 18 weeks, I’ve not had any bleeding so far and I’m 31 weeks, I have a placenta localisation scan at 32 weeks and was hoping for it to be moved.

Over the last few days I have been in for monitoring for reduced fetal movements, I ended up getting a scan yesterday to see measurements for baby. The midwife said have you been told about you placenta, I said yes I know its near the covering of the cervix, not completely covering it.

She then said it’s not the right scan to use but to her it looks like it’s completely covering the cervix in this scan, I didn’t know it could get worse, just was told it could get better.

Anyone had their placenta get closer the cervix after 30 weeks?

Hiya,

This happened with me with my first daughter. Basically without the transvaginal scan everything looked like it had resolved but it was even 'closer' when they went internally! All the best!

Thank you for sharing! I had been told it will most likely move away but good to know it can move closer! Thank you

Yes my placenta is completely covering my cervix, so I have to have a c section delivery. I’ve had a couple of bleeds with this but I can honestly say the doctors and midwifes have been amazing with it. I’m currently 33 weeks and have a c section booked for 37 weeks

Thank you Katie, I had a scan today and my placenta is now covering my cervix, they want to wait until 36 weeks for another scan and then to discuss but I just have a feeling the placenta won’t move out of the way in the next 4 weeks. I also want a plan of action so talking to the doctor next week to schedule a c section, I feel waiting until week 36 is way too long from what I have read. How are you feeling about it?

That’s what they wanted to do for me initially is wait until the 36 week scan but as I was in and out of hospital for best part of 2 weeks I had a couple of interim scans whilst in there and they decided the best thing to do was a c section and it was very unlikely it’d move. Plus I may not even make it to my section date if I end up bleeding again. I asked the doctors for a very honest opinion on whether it’d move or not and all of them said no. I guess it’s slightly different if your pregnancy is progressing healthily but I would ask them bluntly and see if you can get booked in for a c section anyway

Just to add to this I was hospitalised from 31 weeks because of bleeding and managed to hold on to 37 weeks which was the very latest they'd go to! Original plan was to rescan at 36 weeks but I was already in by then!

Thank you Katie and Char, had a scan at 33 weeks and still not moved, spoke to the doctor and said I need a plan of action, it’s giving me anxiety waiting (we are having house renovations and the house is a mess and it won’t be done by week 36/37 which doesn’t help so need to find an alternative place to stay if baby comes early). So they agreed that I can provisionally get booked in for week 37/38 and if it’s moved push it out to week 39. I don’t think it will move so comfortable with this plan but thankfully I’ve not had any bleeds yet. Thank you char for sharing and Good luck with your section Katie

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
