So your baby is already here? You need to check whether it's occupational/enhanced pay they're saying you're not entitled to or SMP. If you're not entitled to SMP you can apply for maternity allowance

@Charley can I still apply as baby is already born?

You can do maternity allowance. I was the same & it’s the same pay as statutory pay, just through the government not work! You can apply online 😊

@Farheen yes, you need to provide proof of the due date, usually your MATB1 certificate

@Nicole it's not the same as SMP, you miss out on the 6 weeks at 90% pay which can be a huge different depending on your usual wage. After the 6 weeks it's the same. Statutory maternity pay is also paid by the government, but your employer pays it to you and claims it back.

@Charley sorry quick question do I need to send pay slips with this

@Charley it’s the same pay as statutory pay as I’m receiving it at the moment. Maximum amount is around 186 a week

@Farheen yes u need to submit Mat b1 form along with ur 13-14 weeks of payslips x

@Sowmya is that the last 3 months payslips?

@Nicole it's not, statutory maternity pay is 90% of your usual salary for the first 6 weeks. Then down to £184.03 (or 90% of your weekly pay if that is lower) for the next 33 weeks. Maternity allowance is £184.03 from the beginning (or 90% of your average weekly earnings if that is lower) for 39 weeks. So SMP pays more in the beginning if your usual salary is higher

@Farheen this page tells you what you need in order to claim https://www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/how-to-claim

I wasn’t aloud maternity pay either eork told me after I left , they lost my maternity form so can’t apply for the other one either so just on uc

@Spice Matley if they lost your MATB1 you can get a copy from your midwife team, or prove the baby's birth date with their birth certificate. This should be enough to claim MA

@Farheen ya
