Headaches and migraines… 17 weeks pregnant- when to get them checked?

Hi! So I’m a regular headache/migraine sufferer. On the few occasions I’ve seen my midwife or had hospital appointments, I’ve been told to keep an eye out for headaches and get checked if I have any persistent ones. I’ve explained my medical history and the fact that I’ve suffered with headaches and migraines for most of my life and if I called them everytime I had a headache I would be there every week. This week however, I’ve just turned 17 weeks pregnant and I would say I’ve had a headache pretty persistently every day. I have my 20 week scan in two weeks, so I could wait and bring this up then. But I’m just worried about leaving it so long in case it’s a sign of any complications. Ive also had period type cramps for the past few days as well. And I know this can be quite common but I suppose I am just being extra cautious. What would any of you recommend? I guess a call to 111 couldn’t hurt but just wanted to see if anyone had had anything similar and can share their experience? Thank you

Your hospital should have a maternity triage number or something like that who you can call for things like this and they'll advise! If it's not normal for you then it absolutely could just be a pregnancy thing but it never hurts to call and check!

Hi! 16 weeks and also dealing with the same ! Did you ever figure out what it could be ? I’m worried as well 🤦🏼‍♀️ 😩

I mentioned mine constantly and received little to no help even when I was in tears begging for them to help I had them from the get go to after 7 months on they’re A LITTLE BIT BETTER. I’d keep mentioning them and bang on their door until they help you xx

I’ve been experiencing bad migraines, I am in second trimester and my GP prescribed me today sumitriptan but there’s not much data if it’s safe in pregnancy so a bit useless advice as I won’t risk. I’ve got some balms with magnesium which I rub in.. it helps a bit and also sleep. Before that I’ve contacted maternity triage and they did all test for me so I am on the safe side, always contact triage because it could be some vit or minerals deficiency and they can quickly rule it out with blood/urine tests x
