Starting out EC

Hi everyone! I’m super interested in EC and wanted to learn more information from other mommas! My baby is now 3 months old and is gaining better neck and back muscle strength. I’ve been saying “peepee” very enthusiastically every time she peeps and poops for over a month now. At first I was making a “pssssssss” sound but it felt so unnatural to me. Should I be saying/making different sounds from pee and poo? Does that even make a difference? I’m thinking of buying the Top Hot Potty but I also have been seeing the Fish Shape one too. What have yall tried? What are the pros and cons? How do yall use it? How do yall clean it? Just trying to learn as much as possible. Any other tips? Thank you in advance! 🥰

I’m thinking that your baby might be on the cusp of transitioning between a top hat style and a mini-regular potty (also from Tiny Undies). The top hat might work for a little bit longer, but I found the top hat was best for the first three to six months. Once my babies had head control, I’d balance them on a regular potty chair. I’ve only used the top-hat and not the fish, so I can’t compare. Making a different sound for poop and pee helps later on down the road (especially once baby starts talking), so I would make two different sounds (or at least identify the different experiences “oh you’re pooping” “oh you’re peeing”). I clean it the same way you clean a potty chair: dump contents in toilet, add water to potty and swish, dump water in toilet, repeat (as needed). wash with soap per personal preference (I usually just wash my hands with soap over the potty as it fits in my sink and only scrub it clean about 1x month).

@Qhianna this is very helpful information! Thank you so much! I’m leaning towards the Mini Potty.
