Severe bowel pain and bleeding

Anyone experienced severe bowel pain and bleeding in bowel movement? The pain is so severe and worse than birthing pain. I normally have a high pain threshold but, this pain the last 4 days has been something else I don’t know what to do! My family said I should go to a&e but, I have a 1 and 2 year old and I can’t imagine sitting there for hours on end in pain! What else can i do? Or something I should just put up with ?

I have the exact same, but I did get diagnosed with deep infiltrating Endo in my bowel in 2020! Unfortunately, if it is Endo A&E won’t do anything (in my experience) apart from give you the same pain meds you probably have at home. Definitely ask your GP for a referral back to your Endo centre (not a general gynae if it is bowel Endo as they aren’t qualified to treat it!) I found something that helped was taking peppermint oil tablets and I have a non inflammatory diet (no gluten, dairy, alcohol etc). I’m really sorry you’re feeling so rubbish. Hopefully you have someone who can look after the kids so you can rest for a bit today. Sending lots of love xx

I've been there. I'm so sorry! Tbh you should go to A&E though I understand and wouldn't have gone either if I'm sure it's my endo as like Ayse said they make you wait for rubbish painkillers. But it's you saying it's been worse than usual last 4 days and worse than labour pains. Probs should get checked out that it isn't your appendix. And you need pain relief When I had that, alternating codeine and movicol and fybogel (constipation made it a lot worse but codeine causes constipation). For actually being on the toilet. Hot water bottle or tens machine and tell yourself "this too will pass". Does pain ease once you're done on the toilet? I put ibuprofen gel on my lower back up to my bumcrack it helps the between pains a bit Hot bath with peppermint oil (smell increases pain tolerance) Then when your flare ends start regular walking every day and the endo diet. Maybe you need a new excision surgery though. Sending lots of hugs

@Alex it’s all pretty new to me I was only given a clinical diagnosis last month- I’ve had minor symptoms for quite some time but never knew it was endo until I had the the cervix and rectal pain. So never went to the doctors. Now my periods are every 21 days and last 7 days so only have a two week rest period from the symptoms getting severe migraines at the start too. I haven’t had any investigations yet. I am going to get in touch with the gp this week as it can’t be ok to live like this. The pain is ok and off, wind and urunating can also trigger it, sitting in certain positions. But, I think I was most concerned with the blood when I poop! I am trying to lose weight on the keto diet which has been going really well. But, diary and coffee and my god sends to help me! So would giving these up defo help me? But, my diet would then be very restricted and I don’t know if I can then lose weight. I don’t eat carbs so don’t hve any gluten anyway. I drink peppermint and ginger teas daily x

@Ayşe thanks for your kind words! All really new to me and had no referrals or investigations yet! I guess because of my high pain threshold all the mi or symptoms over the last few years and having two back to back pregnancies meant I didn’t even consider I had endo! And instead it’s progressed to the severe stage! I only can hope I can get somewhere with a gp x

Oh no maybe you should go then.if not go to GP first thing tomorrow really lay it on thick cry that you can't take jt they have to refer you to a bsge centre because the waiting list for surgery is long enough even once they see you there (if you end up choosing surgery of course). Worth saying i have a mirena IUD and it has sorted my endo more than surgery including bowel symtoms. But atm the bowel symtoms are the only ones not helped very well by breastfeeding on top of IUD. Still it makes a big difference and I really recommend considering one.

I never gave up caffeine but I don't drink much because I'm very sensitive to it and can't sleep otherwise. You don't have to give up dairy. I did for about 2 years then slowly reintroducef and atm i am no dairy due to BF a CMPA baby and it is much harder on my gut. With diet different things work for different people. I don't do well with meat so keto wouldn't be for me. I try to max on fish and veg instead and I eat cooked pears plums and apples for fibre which helps balance out the no dairy. I was very skinny when on the endo diet properly

Hi ladies so today I seen the gp- they have referred me to community gynaecology called health harmony! She also prescribed me tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid anyone had these? X
