Baby eczema

Hi, Needing some advice please. My 5 week old has developed these red marks on his face and neck. It initially started as normal baby rash but has now become more prominent and skin feels rough to touch, looking like eczema. Doctor has recommended hydrocortisone cream but i am worried if using it would be too harsh on baby's skin. I am currently moisturising it with QV intensive cream and petroleum gel. Is this common in babies and would it go away on its own or should I consider using the steroid cream? Has anyone else seen same?

My daughter is 6 weeks now and had this at 4 weeks I rubbed breast milk on it twice in the week now her skin is fine.

@Tanya thanks, i had been thinking of it but never tried. Will give it a go

Yeah look to be completely honest I had no milk come in so I got onto a family member to do it because everyone suggested it and honestly it worked within days. I know it’s weird but aye anything to fix our babies 🥰😍

Hydrocortisone creams aka Steroids are incredibly damaging to the body and can cause dependence (look up steroid addiction) I had to go through it in my teens… please go the natural route🥺❤️ My first born was allergic to dairy and nuts among other things which were causing bad eczema during breastfeeding, maybe you can try eliminating common allergens and seeing if that works? I ended up having to switch him onto formula but his skin cleared and is still clear to this day! We slowly reintroduced a lot of things back into his diet too :)

We used the steriod cream and it really helped our bub. We only used it for a week as instructed. You can try using epaderm, its similar to vaseline but made for eczema.
