My stepkids say they wish mom and dad would work it out 😭

First of all I was dying when they said this right in front of me because I was like damn , kids really don’t be giving a **** lmao but seriously though I feel for these kids who have to go through the process of their parents separating and the whole nine. I might’ve been taken a back a little when they said it but more so I felt my step kids’ pain and there was nothing I could do about it and that made me feel helpless and a little sad. I just try my best to support them and let them know it does suck and their feelings are valid. Anyone else with a similar experience?

I’m sorry I know it’s hard I have been told that too. Her dad and I talked to her telling her just because her mom and dad are not together doesn’t mean they don’t still care about each other. And now we are just a bigger family.

Yea my sd said she wishes her mom and dad were still together on our wedding day 😒

All kids wish their parents were together because it would make their lives so much easier. It's great you acknowledge and validate their feelings instead of minimizing or discouraging them from talking about it. It's probably helping them a lot in ways you can't see yet. It hurts to see kids struggle & feel pain and not be able to fix it, but that's part of love. ❤️ You can't make sure they don't experience pain or other difficulties in life, you can only make sure that (when they allow you to be there for them) they're not alone.

I feel this my husband and I have 2 children of our own as well as my sd who’s 6 my husband and sd’s mom have been split for over 3 years now and she still makes comments about how she wishes they were back together and recently brings up in a lot of conversation memories containing both her mom and dad but I understand that she loves both her mom and dad and you can never ask a child to erase memories and it doesn’t help bm pushes it in sd’s head that they will get back together one day
