Long term NHS employee but applying for a better job within the organisation and wanted to know would my maternity benefits be less or the same?

Hello I’m pregnant (very early stages, only a couple of weeks I think). I wanted to apply for another role within the NHS but I wanted to know if I get the role will I still get the full entitlement that I got last year with my maternity leave for my first baby? Or would it be different because I’m in a different role? I’ve been an NHS employee for over 15 years. Please could anyone advise? Thanks

As long as you're still employed by the NHS you'll be fine. You just need 12 months continuous NHS service to be eligible. Good luck and congratulations! 😊 x

Yes, it’s still continuous service so it all counts, just make sure your start date transfers over on ESR as I had that issue

@Marissa @Emma thank you

Just to note OMP is an average of weeks 17-25 so depending on when you start you might not get your new wage as maternity pay, but it would kick back in when you start leave/ go back

I think if you change trust you won't be entitled the same mat leave. I work in Cambridge hospital and to have the full entitlement I needed to be there for a year before going on mat leave

@Selene oh dear! Thank you for sharing
