I suffer, with severe anxiety, and have done since the age of 14. I had CBT over 2 years ago, and this really helps. What they suggest is to focus your mind on something to keep it occupied from what you are becoming anxious over. For example, I pick a colour and list everything that is in that colour that I can see within my proximity I.e. white; clouds, car, signs. If you are looking for more of an Islamic approach, you could take some sunnahs, write them down, and take it with you when you go out. You can then read them to distract you. Hope this helps.
