False positive pregnancy test

@Lauren hi Lauren, thanks for replying! So after the positive pregnancy test, I took the same digital test again with the same urine and it said ‘not pregnant’. I tried again with another as I was still in shock. It said ‘not pregnant’ again. So I decided to leave it till about mid morning time ish with the HCG strips to see if it says anything. Again it showed that I’m not pregnant. Do you think it’ll be best for me to test closer to the time of when my period is due which is next Saturday so maybe try again mid week next week? Also where can I book a private blood test? Do you know of any specific places? I’m based in Kent. The idea of this is so nerve wracking as my little one is currently 13 months old but I keep telling myself that this is meant to be🥰 Also congratulations on your new pregnancy!!! Oh gosh that is quite perplexing! Those Clearblue tests can be unreliable but that’s more for the weeks and they do have a high hcg threshold so for one to say positive. I guess a false positive could happen but they are rare! It is early too but not impossible. Just really strange and not heard of many false positives for a digital. Maybe indent lines and on early tests. I’d try to get a First Response test and take that with first morning urine. The threshold is a lot lower so if you take that maybe not tomorrow but the next morning with first morning urine it should show up (on the basis you got a digital read). Then maybe just wait again until til next week to use a digital. You shouldn’t need a blood test, it’s just an option but would wait till next week. Various clinics do them for £70 so not cheap and urine should be reliable so would probably stick with that. Really sorry this is happening to you! Not nice to be held in suspense and hope you get clarity soon.
It’s really rare to get a false positive! The test you took does need a fairly high threshold 25ml. I think if it showed pregnant 1-2, you are most likely pregnant. Were the other tests taken after or with same urine? If taken after it’s likely the concentrate in the urine has dropped so showing a false negative. Urine concentrate is very important when this early because the next urine samples might not of been over the 25ml threshold. Restest tomorrow morning… leaving it 2 days would be better as hcg doubles every 48 hours but if you already got a digital positive then tomorrow morning should be fine. Options… -Retest with first morning urine… I’d collect in a disposable cup as that way you can dip in as many tests as you want -Buy a early First Response test as they are the most sensitive at 6ml so if the concentrate was less it should still pick it up -Pay for a private blood test I’m currently newly pregnant and will have a 20 month age gap!
