Homeschool Preschool

Hello! I have been planning to homeschool my son since he was born. My oldest is now 4 and we live right next to a church that offers preschool-kindergarten. We have a few neighbors that have children 1 year ahead of my son and they all attend the preschool near our house. I feel the need to enroll him in school this year so that he gets the socialization he needs. I just want him to be able to play. I’m expecting my second in October and I’m worried we will be homebodies for the winter. How many of you have sent your kids to preschool and then started your homeschool journey?

We did homeschooling preschool, while my daughter was 4 and my son was 1. Socialization was covered through play dates and just regular everyday interactions with neighbors, friends, family, etc. I’m a huge fan of having my children interact across all age groups, not just their immediate peers! I grew up homeschooled and have noticed how easy it is for many homeschoolers to converse across all ages, even multi-generationally. That, to me, is a huge benefit of homeschooling. If you want to send your kiddo to the church’s preschool, that’s totally fine, but I wouldn’t think it necessary for his socialization needs. And you may feel extra stressed at the burden of drop-off / pick-up especially with your baby coming in October. Whatever you choose, though, all the best! Congratulations on your growing family ❤️

Hi! I had a similar experience, last year my daughter was 4 and I was expecting a baby in October and so I sent her to preschool for the year and now we are going to start our homeschool journey ☺️
