Nexplanon

Anyone using Nexplanon? How was your experience? Positive and negative welcome. I got mine a few weeks ago and have not had any symptoms I was warned about. I know it’s still really early but I have not had irregular bleeding or weight gain as of yet.

Had mine and loved mine after my first pregnancy, when it was time to change it out though, they couldn't get it out because it had moved and I needed it surgically removed. Tried the depo after that and I had a reaction so I just free flow now. Baby number 4 due soon and hubby getting a vasectomy cause I'm done 😅

Everybody is different and can react differently to the Nexplanon. When I got it at 18 and kept getting it till I was 25, I eventually had problems with weight gain, and I had irregular periods or no periods at all. However, I am back on the Nexplanon, I got it at my 6 month pp check-up. So far, I haven't had any symptoms besides at the very beginning. It's the only birth control I have ever been on, I was told that my symptoms could be different from the first time I was on it.

@Jacqui yes this is what I’ve heard too!! I made the mistake of googling side effects on it. And since I was relying on the plan B pull more than I should have after having my baby I was bleeding sometimes 3x a month. The nurse tried so hard to scare me out of getting it but I insisted on it because I need something almost 100% effective and that I don’t have to think about. I tried IUDs and both were horrible for me. I tried depo shot and pills, and the patch and none worked for me. I’m hoping this method will work for my body.

@Julie I’m really hoping this works well for me too! I hope I’m one of those who stops getting my period as well 🤣 fingers crossed!

@Brittany Staley oh my gosh I’m sorry you experienced that. I was on depo shots for almost 4 years from the time I began being sexually active as a teenager to early adulthood and I am convinced that the depo shot is the reason I had so many mental health issues and severe depression all those years! It did not work well for me. Congratulations on your last baby btw!

Everyone is so different but I had it twice the full 3 years, the first implant I had no problems at all, i didn’t have a period the whole 3 years I had it or gained weight or anything. It was amazing. But the second one, that’s a whole different story.. lol it made me feel absolutely insane mentally, I had irregular periods, and I gained a lot of weight. It caused me to get it removed after the first year having it. So it’s kinda a hit or miss with how your body is I would say. But I do still recommend it even having a bad experience with the second time I got it. The first implant was truly amazing and worked super well for me

I have nexplanon right now. I don't mind it except I just randomly get a period. It's not consistent. Sometimes I bleed a couple days. Sometimes a month. Some months no period. Sometimes I bleed twice a month. I dont like the inconsistency for myself but that's my only issue. But when we have another, he's getting snipped because I don't want to be on birth control anymore.

When I got mine in I was alright but eventually I started to get really sick. It was awful. I was always nauseous. Dizzy. Headaches. Everything you could imagine. But I finally got it out. Now I’m on the patch and I don’t have anymore. Waiting to get a different method of birth control and honestly this time sucks because I’m literally a ball of tears just crying everyday until my appointment. So even though I was sick I would prefer nexplanon because it stays in longer and I wasn’t this much of an emotional person as I am now.

when i first started mine about 6 months ago i had two period cycles and after that no more bleeding at all. but Ive had super mad mood swings and issues with aggression

I got mine when I was 18 I got it removed 1 year later due to being really emotional for no reason, breaking out+ weight gain. Everyone is different though, you can always get it removed whenever you’d like if you see that you don’t like it, I’d recommend to try it out and see how your body reacts! Kept me safe on not having any babies during that time 🫣

I had mine for 6 months and it really messed with me mentally and it constantly hurt in my arm. I didn’t just feel it, it stung. When I went to get it removed it had bent in my arm so the NP dug it out of me to find it and I have a nasty scar on the back of my arm. I also got anemic from bleeding constantly the whole time and iron supplements didn’t help my dizziness. Everyone is different but don’t forget they do cut you.

Ive have Nexplanon for almost 10 years. I removed it to have a baby and it wasn't difficult to become pregnant afterwards. But during Nexplanon, I felt like I had 0 sex drive-like days/months went on and I didn't even realize it. I didn't get a period for years, and I gained ALOT of weight like 80pounds and it was so hard to burn off.

When I first got mine I had a period for 6 months straight then after that I’d have it every two months for a month😭 well got it out a year early it got stuck in my arm had to get surgically removed have a nasty scar now that freaking itches and it’s very noticeable
