Universal Credit advice

Just after some advice or if someone has been in the same situation as me.

My maternity pay ran out the 10th of July, my last payment was £78 however UC have only paid me £400 on the 17th of July

They said I’m entitled to £900 in total but they’ve deducted money because apparently MA have paid me £500 from the 10th of June - 11th if July but even so £500 will not last me until the 17th of August as I’ve got household bills to pay, rent and essentials for my daughter but they’re not very considerate.

Am I expecting too much or can someone explain this to me as I’ve never claimed benefits before so I’m not really understanding. I don’t want to miss any payments for my bills.

Yeah so the reason it was less is it only was covering on the days between her last payment on the 11th. So from July 11-17th which is when you Maternity leave ends I’m assuming is what you had put in when filing for it, so those days are what you are paid for. After that that’s all you get for paid maternity/family leave. However that’s how it is in California.

So you have ‘entitlement periods’, it’s not just June, July, August etc. so your period is between 10th June- 11th of July, so any pay you got during that would count towards deductions. Your next entitlement period would be 11th July- 12th August.
It can be crap sometimes but you have received the correct amount based on you MA during that period x

You can request an advance on your next payment if you don’t think you have enough to last you

Maternity allowance is deducted and is based on what’s received during your assessment periods. You can only apply for an advance if one is available to you. This is repayable out of your UC each month.

thank you for explaining that! I just wondered if this was normal but makes sense as they’re periods. New to claiming benefits and I honestly don’t understand it all haha. Thought they were having me on!

yes I’m aware, this was more about my UC claim not maternity allowance

I’m fully aware maternity allowance is deducted as they have been deducting it for the past 9 months however now my maternity pay is over I was curious as to why it was still being deducted.

Lost friends since being a mum

My two friends and me have always been close since our early teens. I’m the first to have a baby.

One friend has big house, career and boyfriend

Other out of a long term relationship and being single having fun etc

Before baby we would all hang at my
Apartment, chat eat and just have
Fun.

Now I don’t even get a text to ask how my baby is, how I am. I really thought they would be awesome aunties. But honestly they don’t care.

They meet up a lot to do cool things, which I can’t be upset about as I can’t as I have my baby.

I don’t know I feel sad about it.

How to deal with loneliness in pregnancy when your boyfriend goes out with his friends drinking 😅🥲 I only have three friends, two are never really free and one lives back in Liverpool and has her own set of friends where she goes to raves and goes on holiday with them lol. My boyfriend is going out soon for the night as it’s sunny and I’ll just be sat here crying like every single time! When does it stop 🤣

Has anyone else had issues with their friends that aren't pregnant or have kids?

I have a friend at work and we've become really close over the years. But ever since I become pregnant she just doesn't understand anything I'm going through which is fine except for the fact that the past few days I have been exhausted physically and socially. We have been helping another friend out for about a month now and we've had to keep him entertained as he's going through a rough time right now and it's drained me socially . my friend at work is frustrated because I'm not talking a lot and I'm exhausted and she doesn't understand why and I'm just curious if anybody else has had issues with friends that are not going to the same thing or have gone through the same thing as you connecting with you because she's literally mad at me. She stopped talking to me at work today and I just don't understand what to do.
