Melatonin with 3 year old?

Has anyone used melatonin with their 3 year old? Mine is in such a bad sleep habit because his dad started working over nights. He is staying up until 1130-1am some nights and then sleeping until 9-10. It’s killing me because I am 9 months pregnant and not getting any sleep like that. I was looking around and saw melatonin but am wondering if it is effective or anything I should know before trying it.

Sometimes it has a quick effect for my daughter. If she is NOT ready for bed it makes her cranky.

My son has been high sleep needs his whole life. It’s always taken an hour or more for him to fall asleep. We finally caved and tried melatonin. It has been a game changer! He falls asleep in less than 20 minutes now. But like the above comment states, it makes him cranky if he doesn’t get put to bed in the recommended time window.

Yup. Only on occasions where it’s needed, and it’s like 1mg and is organic with chamomile, definitely works!

Another suggestion that is very gentle is putting a lot of magnesium / Epsom salts in the bath and some lavender oil. I hope you get some rest before baby arrives!

I have only used it when we returned from holiday and had a 5 hour time difference! It was amazing 🤩

My daughter is 3 almost 4 in November and I give her the 1mg ones at 9pm and she’s asleep by 9:30 try giving a bath with the bedtime body wash/shampoo then the bedtime lotion after bath then gummy they will sleep through the night

I use it for my daughter I give it to her at 5pm after we eat dinner and then a bath but we started giving her a stricter routine now she goes to bed around 7/8 pm and wake up around 6/7 and we completely taken naps from her

If you do, choose to go the route of a melatonin supplement speak with your physician on what brand they would personally recommend. They have done studies and found that a lot of melatonin supplements contain up to 10 times the amount in one dose that they say they do. There can be severe side effects from using melatonin such as regression in wetting, headaches, and nausea. I am definitely not anti-melatonin by any means you just need to make sure you’re getting a brand that is safe and has accurate dosing for your child if you’re going to use it 🤍
