Horses and babies

Hiya, does anyone here have horses? I’m pregnant with my first and have 3 horses. Looking for some tips and advice on how to manage both 🐎♥️

Yep, it was HARD. Part loan out if you feel comfortable doing so xx

I have one and have a loaner for him which has been amazing for taking the pressure off. He’s also on full livery. I am however gagging to get back on now!

I have 2 and it has been hard. Now she's 1 summer has been a bit easier as I can take her with me to do jobs and let her toddle around. Also lucky enough to share a field with some people who are fantastic at helping me out if needed. Winter was very hard while I was on maternity so I dread to think how it will be now I'm back at work.

I’ve got one who’s retired and two youngsters who are unbroken so I don’t think anyone would be interested in loaning them😂 I’ve moved them closer to home to a field where they can live out to make it easier for myself. We’ve put in a big automatic trough to save filling buckets. I’ve just been checking on them every other day and taking them for walks on the weekends when my partner is off to stop them going completely feral😂 do any of you have any pram recommendations?xx

I've got a mamas ans papas flip xt2 and a silver cross zest and recommend neither for offroading 🤣🤣. In another group I'm in someone recommended a 3 wheeler one, can't remember the name but they're expensive! X

@Charlotte I will keep an eye out on marketplace etc. Thank you x

Yep, got a yard of 11. Turned them all away for the first year (2023) and I’ve only just started going back out showing now - it’s hard but I found it easier to do stuff on the yard with a newborn than a year old 😂they don’t sleep so much now hahahah.

I turned mine away and it was the best decision especially as my birth didn’t go to plan and I’ve ended with an emergency c section so wouldn’t be able to drive to look after him anyway! It’s really nice for me not having any pressure of trying to do right by him and little one! It’s also has cut the cost right down, plus he is super happy!

I currently work with horses, and have now been told that they won’t be able to keep me working there as my pregnancy progresses as they can’t give me safe jobs to do 🙃

@Angel that seems a bit harsh! I can think of plenty of things that would need doing that wouldn’t put you in danger. Are they atleast going to pay you whilst you’re off?

@Lara id imagine it’s for insurance as well as just not wanting it on their conscience or if something went horribly wrong it would be on them … better safe than sorry

I have a youngster and have been looking for groups on this app for people with horses! Luckily I’m on a fantastic yard with amazing people who are willing to help, but I’m well aware it’s still going to be difficult as my pregnancy progresses and then I have a little one in tow!
