Underactive thyroid

Bit of background: I had an overactive thyroid when I was 16 but it was eventually resolved by taking carbimazole and I'd been fine. Even got tested a few times over the years to make sure my levels were okay. However, when I was pregnant it triggered my thyroid again. Doctors said it can happen with people who have suffered with thyroid issues before and apparently it's called postpartum thyroiditis. I now have an underactive thyroid and have been on levothyroxine since June last year. Anyone else who takes levothyroxine do you ever get flare ups of underactive symptoms or just struggle to lose weight? And any tips or tricks on this or advice? Any weight loss tips with an underactive thyroid would be especially helpful as it seems no matter how much or what I eat it's such a struggle to lose weight! I've not lost any weight for several months now despite making an active effort.

I have an under active thyroid and have since I was 13, they had to keep increasing my thyroxine and eventually it helped with my weight. I was so so heavy. I get flare ups of tiredness ect that’s when I know my levels are low. I was kept and eye on throughout my whole pregnancy and they even increased the amount as they were low. It does get easier but keep speaking to your GP if you’re really struggling. Thyroid conditions can really affect weight but once they increased mine my weight has decreased to a more healthy level xx

Message me if you have any questions I’ll try help as much as I can

Hi, I have thyroid problems. I have an overactive thyroid, so it messes with my hormones, which causes me to have heavy periods and long ones. I've had mine from a young and have been off and on levothyroxine for years because sometimes my thyroid levels are normal, and other times either too low or too high. Weight loss is difficult for me when my hormones are off. I have to recheck. Mine has been off the tablets for a while now, and I have gained a bit of weight myself. I usually just detox and cleanse with tea such as cerasee tea in the morning and night and green tea in the afternoon. It did help by flashing out my system.

@Brogan thank you 🥰 I do get waves of tiredness some days so might be worth a doctors appointment! Im not due to be seen officially until feb next year as they kept saying my levels were fine If you don't mind me asking, how was being pregnant with an underactive thyroid? The doctor really made me worried about it and said it can make it high risk!

@Melody I'll definitely try the tea!

The ceresee doesn't taste nice though I just drink it down fast and it helps u go to the toilet
