17 months old not walking

My 17 month old boy still can not walk independently, he is able to cruise along the furniture and shows interest in climbing. Any advice please on how I can help my boy to walk, should I be concerned that he is not walking yet? Anyone in a similar situation at all.

My daughter walked at 15 months and I found that it helped a lot to go on a daily 10 minute walk with her holding my hand. She came on so quickly after that. We just went to the end of the road and back!

My girl is the same, she cruises and crawls and can walk when you hold her hands but isn’t comfortable letting go, she can stand independently for a second or two then grabs on to something nearby. She was late in crawling also so hoping the walking independently comes along soon too. I think they say as long as they are walking by 2 then that’s fine. He’ll get there just keep encouraging and try and get him to stand unsupported for brief periods so his confidence and balance improves. That’s what I’ve been encouraging my daughter to do

Mine started at about 15 months and everyone kept asking if I was doing anything to encourage her. I tried, but she absolutely wasn’t going to do it before she wanted to try, no matter what I did! The most successful thing was putting two chairs close together and encouraging her to let go to step to the other chair (I used unusual object like a tape measure to get her interest). The idea is, as they get better you can move the chairs further apart.
