Salmonella infection

My baby has had diarrhoea for 2 weeks now I called the gp did a poo sample and they said it can last a couple of week to get out of her system. There’s no signs of dehydration but just loose stools about 4-5. Not sure what else to do.

Nothing you can do apart from keep her hydrated and keep an eye on her for any further symptoms. If still not right after a couple of weeks like doctor advised then I’d go back. Will probably unsettle her gut a little too so probiotics might help get stools back to normal.

@Chloe literally no idea because I overcook all her foods anyway. The only thing I can think of is we went to a house that has a cat and a baby who had diarrhoea a week earlier and I wasn’t aware 😞

@E🫶🏼🌷💫 yes thinking to give them a ring on Monday and let them know too. She’s very jolly and herself so I’m not too worried. Will see about the probiotics too. Thankyou ❤️

We had the same thing happen. I think my 7 month old picked it up at nursery. The problem is babies have zero immune system. The diarrhoea went down to 4-5 nappies a day, but it carried on for 2 more weeks (a month in total). My baby was absolutely fine in terms of mood, eating and drinking though. Stool sample came back negative. I went back and forth with the GP, because I was worried but I just had to wait until it was out of her system. Big hugs mama and babe 🩶💜
