A little confused?

Hi my son has turned 3 he does 15 hours a week as I’m not working he’s been doing that since he was 2 recently the staff asked me if I’m keeping him here I said yes for another year and that was it they didn’t ask for paper work or anything has that happened with any other mums? Also I will be starting work hopefully by the end of this year or beginning or next so when can I apply for the 30 hours I’m not 100 when I will ask I’m getting support with my mental health? Advice would be appreciated from any mums who have a similar situation to me thanks x

I was told it’s automatic- it happens automatically so you will be switched to 30hrs in sept and you will get the notification

I was under the impression that 30 hrs is for when both parents are working at least 16 hrs each and once u qualify you will need to apply for 30 hrs on council website and provide new code for that To the nursery . That’s what I was asked when I enquired at my boys nursery

I called directly to direct gov and was told I don’t have to do anything as it’s automatic and also no my self and my partner work more than 16hrs

@Isi OP has said she doesn’t work, therefore she won’t qualify for 30 hours from September.

Oh dear didn’t see that yes

Do you reconfirm your eligibility every 3 months? That might trigger the 30 hours. I’d also give the childcare setting as much notice as possible if you want to increase his hours at some point. I know ours has a waiting list for additional hours/new starters! I gradually increased his hours and he had to wait for the beginning of a new term.

Yes I do

I think they ask as some ppl put their child in school nursery following their third bday in the September

I don't think you'll get the 30 hours if your not working I though it was for working parents only but again with the new rules I have no idea and I think depends if you have working partner, childcare choices website have an eligibility tool on there website you can also call them too
